Health Funds

At Acclaim Dental we are Member Care providers for Medibank Private, Commonwealth Bank Health Scheme, Bupa & HCF. By being a Member Care provider it means that you will receive a higher rebate on your health fund by coming to us than by going elsewhere.

If you are with a health fund that is not listed above, rest assured we still accept all health funds.

Using HICAPS on-the-spot claiming we are able to swipe your health fund card after your appointment and instantly claim the rebate for you.

How much will I get back from my health fund for the treatment?

This is dependent on which health fund you are with and also the level of cover you are on. At the end of your appointment, your dentist will provide you with a treatment estimate, which will include a list of item numbers. An item number is a 3-digit code that you will need to quote to your health fund. Following this, your fund will be able to tell you exactly how much you are covered for.

What is the difference between General and Major Dental treatment?

Most health funds classify dental treatment into two categories; general dental and major dental.

General dental treatment can include:

• Diagnostic and preventive services (examinations, X-rays, scale and clean)
• Restorations (fillings)
• Extractions
• Mouth guards

Major dental can include:

• Indirect restorations
• Dentures
• Root canal treatment
• Surgical extractions
• Periodontics
• Orthodontics

Each year there is a maximum benefit you can claim in each of these categories.
